For safe processes
Graphite electrodes play a decisive role in EDM technology. Graphite, which is six times lighter than copper due to its lower density, offers numerous advantages for precise and efficient machining. The added value is particularly evident in the case of fine rib geometries: the ability to erode deeper means that considerable time can be saved.
The lower density of graphite means less strain on the machines and enables a faster machining speed. In addition, graphite has five times less thermal expansion compared to copper, which further improves the precision and stability of machining.
FACTS AND ADVANTAGES
Extremely precise
In general, graphite is easier to process than other electrode materials such as copper. This means that production is not only faster, but also more cost-effective. Graphite is also thermally stable, which means that it does not deform during the eroding process and therefore guarantees greater accuracy. Furthermore, the higher conductivity enables high removal rates during erosion.
The eroding time can be reduced to around a third with graphite electrodes. This naturally creates a clear cost advantage in mold production.
