As a processing company, WPK can save resources through various measures, such as using energy-efficient devices, avoiding waste, recycling materials or promoting electromobility. This protects the environment and helps to slow down climate change.
Floods, drought, hurricanes, water shortages,
scarcity of resources and rising temperatures are just some of the consequences of climate change. Energy efficiency is therefore also an important factor for WPK in minimising the negative environmental impact of a company.
One simple measure to improve energy efficiency was to switch to LED lighting in most of the company. The last missing area will also be converted shortly.
Switching to green electricity was a matter of course for WPK and was already implemented in 2020.
In the medium term, there are plans to update the insulation on the company roof and install a solar system as part of this. Part of the company’s electricity requirements are to be sourced from this renewable energy.
The building is heated primarily by means of heat recovery from production, meaning that WPK can largely dispense with the use of gas.
All industrial trucks are now powered by electricity and some of our company vehicles are already plug-in hybrids or fully electric cars.
By purchasing a grinding plant, we are able to recycle the rejects generated during production by regranulating them and thus save valuable resources.
